Healing Testimony

Talking to God

I’d always wanted a grandfather clock, so I finally got one. I had someone deliver it, and I noticed that one of the weights wasn’t hanging right. So I took it off, which I shouldn’t have done. And the spring it was hanging on sprung over to the sofa, and I thought, “I’ll just grab that.” And as I grabbed it, I was holding this 25-pound clock weight in the other hand. I dropped it into the glass, and my knee was under the glass. The weight fell on my knee, and the glass fell into my leg.
How Did Talking to God Bring Peace?
I immediately thought, “I’m not going to give any time to being afraid. I’ll just wrap it in a towel and start talking to God.” Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures to close the lips, go into your sanctuary, be quiet, and listen. And I have found that when I listen, I feel God. And feeling God, I hear Him. I felt His love for me. It was overwhelming.
What Did God Say?
And in that moment, I knew that when God created man, He had established the truth about man—and about me—from the very beginning. And the truth is that He loves us and found us to be very good. There was never a time when He wasn’t with me, surrounding me, orchestrating all the events in my life. None of that could have included this accident.
What Was the Result of Turning to Prayer?
As I came out of talking to God, I unwrapped my leg, and there was no broken skin, just a small mark on my knee. The skin had originally broken from my knee up to the top of my leg. And there was nothing there, because God had always been taking care of me.
