Mary Baker Eddy founded the Christian Science religion after many years of Bible study and a search for spiritual truth. She is respected and well-loved as a spiritual leader, but has never been worshiped as an idol. Eddy wrote, “Follow me only so far as I follow Christ.”
Mrs. Eddy worked diligently to create a church structure devoid of personal attachments, and organized according to standard business practices. There are no true leaders or heads of any Christian Science church. Church business is conducted by a board of directors elected by the members of each church.
Christian Science churches do not have pastors like other churches. We have “readers” who read Bible Lessons compiled by The Mother Church. The lessons include Bible verses and related ideas from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, and these books are considered the church “pastor.” We love knowing our “pastor” is available anytime we need help, day or night.

Christian Science Healing Testimonies
There are thousands of recorded healings in the Bible and in Christian Science publications. Many Christian Science healings have occurred by simply reading the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. This healing book is Eddy’s main body of work and a companion to the Bible. It contains sections on Genesis and Revelation, and is part of the Christian Science Weekly Bible Lesson. It also has a chapter called Fruitage, consisting of healing testimonies.
You will find a lot of love and support for your spiritual journey at any of our Churches or Reading Rooms. Churches hold services twice weekly, including a healing testimony meeting on Wednesdays.
Reading rooms are open varied hours according to location. We love visitors and are available to answer questions, and offer resources such as Bible study lessons and other publications from the Christian Science Publishing Society.
Please email us with questions at contact@prayerthatheals.org or call your local church, reading room or Christian Science Practitioner.
