Healing Testimony
In her role as a property manager, Reesa had the chance to see the honest worker in everyone. After an electrician came to do repairs at the pool house, she went to inspect the work, but found water pouring out. The electrician insisted that it had been that way when he arrived, but she knew otherwise. Feeling frustrated, she sensed a lack of honesty.
At that moment, she turned to a line from a Christian Science hymn, 382: “Thou art Truth’s honest child, of pure and sinless heart.” She allowed this spiritual perspective to deeply resonate with her, letting it guide her approach to the situation and her view of others as honest workers. Watch the video to learn how the issue was resolved.

Seeing the Honest Worker
VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
In my job as a house manager of a couple of different properties, one of the things I’ve been working on for myself has been this passage from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “Truth is revealed. It needs only to be practiced.” So I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can put these wonderful scientific concepts of Christian Science into practice. I had an opportunity to do that at one of the homes that I manage.
We had an electrician come out that was doing some work in the pool house. And when he got done with the work in that particular area, he came out to say, “Hey, can I show you the work that we did?” When I got back there, water was just gushing and nearly flooding out. The electrician was like, “Well, it was like that when I got there, and that’s just how it’s been.” I knew from being back there frequently enough, it hadn’t been that way. So he went to work on some other projects in the house, clearly saying, “Oh no, it wasn’t me. I didn’t do that. It was like that when I got here.”
In the meantime, I called the pool guy, just to say, “Hey, what do we do about this?” And so he was really helpful in getting the water at least shut off. I was feeling frustrated because it felt like there was a mistake made, that no one had said anything, and it didn’t feel like things were very honest. One of my favorite aspects of Christian Science has always been the hymns. I love singing the hymns, and being able to sing them is something that has been very near and dear to my heart because I can remember them easier.
A line from Hymn 382 came to mind: “Thou art Truth’s honest child, of pure and sinless heart; Thou treadest undefiled in Christly paths apart.” And what that meant to me at the time was, I was really seeing the electrician as an honest worker that was trustworthy. It wasn’t about what was going on in front of me. It was really about who is the “Genesis 1 man,” the male and female of God’s creating. And what God creates is an honest child that is completely free of sin.
So it was really easy to hold onto that thought of the electrician and of everyone involved. As I was thinking about that, I let that thought make a deep impression on me and be the thing that governed the situation and how I viewed people.
The pool guy came out with a piece of the pool. He was like, “We got it all stopped, it’s fine.” And as he walked past the electrician, the electrician was like, “Is that the piece that was the problem?” And the pool guy said, “Oh yeah, the hose came loose from it.” He was like, “Oh my gosh, that was my fault. I knocked it over. I must have dislodged it. I’m so sorry.”
Everyone’s honest child came out that day. And so I was just really grateful to see that when we’re practicing truth and choosing to entertain what God’s seeing instead of a mortal swirl of what could have happened, it blesses everyone involved and completely resolves the situation and leaves everybody feeling fulfilled and satisfied.

More about healing
Learn how others have solved problems like “seeing the honest worker” or prayed for other types of healing through their study of Christian Science, which is based on God’s love for man and the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Jesus showed God’s love for man by healing all kinds of sin and disease, inspiring us to live better lives, and teaching us how to understand God as Spirit and love the spiritual man of God’s creation. Christian Science helps us understand Jesus’ teachings. It shows us how to heal and has helped many experience all types of healing.
This way of healing has worked for Christian Scientists over the past 150+ years, even when doctors said a condition couldn’t be cured. Christian Science healing is different from just believing or thinking positively, and it’s not the same as self-hypnosis. Our prayer is based on Christian faith, understanding our relationship to God, and the belief that nothing is impossible for Him.
Christian Scientists can choose the type of care that works best for them and their families. Many people who practice Christian Science live happy and healthy lives without using medicine or other material solutions.
