Father’s Day is a special time to celebrate the father figures in our lives who show love, strength, kindness, and guidance. This might be a dad, stepdad, grandpa, or someone who helps and supports us like a father. But for some, Father’s Day can feel empty or sad—because of loss, distance, or challenging memories.
Our Eternal, Spiritual Father
In Christian Science, we learn that God is our eternal, spiritual Father—a constant source of strength, comfort, and healing. We each have a Father who is always with us—God. His love is unwavering, powerful, and healing.

Like a good father, God’s love protects us, guides us when we seek wisdom, lifts us when we feel discouraged, encourages us when we are on the right path, and nurtures strength and confidence when we feel lonely or lost. We are safe in God’s care; in times of struggle and joy, we can always be uplifted by love. In the Bible, it says,
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust:
Psalm 91:4
Even if someone didn’t grow up with a present or loving father, they are never without a fathering presence. Christian Science helps us see that we are always God’s children—deeply loved and cared for by our spiritual Father, who is always near.
Gratitude for Fatherly Love

This Father’s Day, let’s take a moment to express gratitude for the people who show us fatherly love in our lives. And let’s also remember—and rejoice in—the comforting truth that God, our eternal, spiritual Father, is always loving, always guiding, and always holding us in His care. If you feel a need for fatherly support, here’s how to turn to God in prayer.
When thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and, when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
