Enjoy inspirational music

Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer and founder of Christian Science, loved having inspirational songs in her home, and our church services are full of singing and music.

His tender love and watchful care / Shall free thee from the fowler’s snare.

Christian Science Hymnal, No. 100:2

At each church service, musicians perform a solo, prelude and postlude, and the congregation comes together to sing loved hymns. Even small groups that cannot afford to hire musicians can make use of inspirational music recordings available from The Mother Church in Boston.

In 1892, The Mother Church put together The Christian Science Hymnal, a collection of both favorite songs and original music, and since then addendums have been published several times—as recently as 2017—which have brought music and lyrics from all around the world to our services.

‘Twas the Truth that made us free, / And was found by you and me / In the life and the love of our Lord.

Christian Science Hymnal, No. 568:1

Hymns are beautiful. Some of our favorites are poems of Mary Baker Eddy that have been set to music. There are seven of her poems included in the Hymnal, each with multiple variations. We love to sing these as they cut to the heart of the teachings of Christian Science.

Inspirational music has a way of reminding us of the healing ideas of Christian Science and bringing us together as a community. If you would like to listen, you can find a church near you for services on Sunday and Wednesday. Church near me. You can also listen to many hymns on the new Christian Science audio page, ChristianScience.com/audio.

Brood o’er us with Thy shelt’ring wing, / ’Neath which our spirits blend / Like brother birds, that soar and sing, / And on the same branch bend. / The arrow that doth wound the dove / Darts not from those who watch and love.

Christian Science Hymnal, No. 30:1
