Homeless or needing a place to call home?

Homeless or needing a place to call home?

Addressing the issue of homelessness or an unhappy home may seem to be tough, but there is hope. Those feeling as though they are without a good place to lay their head can feel encouragement when realizing that everyone has a true home in God’s kingdom.

Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven; stranger, thou art the guest of God.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 254:31

His kingdom includes all people and no one can be separated from God or His love, homeless or not. We are enveloped in His care and love.

Turn humbly to your heavenly Father

Maybe life has thrown some tough curves, and you are homeless or feel stuck in an unhappy home. Or like the prodigal son in Christ Jesus’ parable, you may feel unworthy to come home (see Luke 15:11-32). No matter what the human situation, you can always turn humbly to your heavenly Father for unconditional love.

Treasuring the idea of home and knowing that we dwell in the consciousness of Love (God) now and forever, can make a difference. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, sheds new light on the beloved 23rd Psalm. She introduces a spiritual view of God as divine Love. Here is the last line of Psalm 23 with Eddy’s words in brackets, replacing Lord with Love:

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house [the consciousness] of [LOVE] for ever.

Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 578:16

Whether “finding home” means ensuring you have shelter, a community where you feel comfortable, or a church that you can call home, you can trust God to guide you.

Pilgrim on earth, home and heaven are within thee, / Heir of the ages and child of the day. / Cared for, watched over, beloved and protected, / Walk thou with courage each step of the way.

– Christian Science Hymnal, No. 278:1
