Healing Testimony
Growing up in Christian Science Sunday School learning about God’s presence and power, Dardie felt a close relationship with God from a young age. One day while sitting in the car, Dardie struggled with the pain of an ear infection. As she sang a favorite hymn, she felt a clear sense of the presence of God. Feeling God’s Presence Led to Immediate Healing

I can remember growing up in the Christian Science Sunday School in Beverly Hills, California, where I was raised. I was learning about God in Sunday School, the great “I am.” And I had a clear sense of God, so I felt God’s presence with me no matter where I was.
One day, my mother took me to get me some of my favorite treats at a bakery. She left me in the car while she went in. I was there waiting for her to come out, and I can remember singing a hymn that I love so much in the Christian Science Hymnal, Hymn 82. “God is working His purpose out, As year succeeds to year, God is working His purpose out, And the time is drawing near; Nearer and nearer draws the time, The time that shall surely be, When the earth shall be filled with the glory of God As the waters cover the sea.”
I had been struggling with what appeared to be an infected eardrum from a lot of diving, swimming, surfing, and waterskiing that I’d been doing. This hadn’t drained, and it was beginning to hurt me. As I sang this hymn to myself in the enclosure of the car, where the only presence was God, my ear opened up, and the water drained out. I didn’t put my head down, I didn’t bang it; I simply sat there, and my ear drained. It was so simple and so pure and innocent, I will never forget it.
I remember this proof of the everpresence of God as a child—that I could rely on God no matter where I was alone. And I’ve had many proofs since then, traveling all over the world, of the presence of God with me.
Mary Baker Eddy tells us in Science and Health, the textbook of Christian Science, “To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings.”
