What do you think of when you hear Jesus’ name?
Was he simply a kind, mysterious man who lived long ago, whose life lessons have been lost? Quite the contrary! Jesus Christ, the son of God, left quite a legacy. His words and works are revered by Christians and people of other faith traditions around the world.

Christian Science is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Bible. We believe that he was the most spiritual man who ever walked the earth, and there is much we can learn from his consummate example.
Do you ever wonder how Jesus accomplished such miraculous cures of disease, raised the dead and healed sinners?
Mary Baker Eddy, the Founder of Christian Science, gave us her view.
“Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Savior saw God’s own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick. With God all things are possible
Jesus Christ prayed persistently for all mankind, and understood that man was God’s spiritual image and likeness. He was not materialistic or selfish; otherwise he could not have fulfilled his spiritual ministry in helping others.
Jesus’ teachings
- Beatitudes – “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.” The Beatitudes reveal the spiritual qualities that reflect God and bring us closer to Him. In Christian Science, purity of heart is not just about moral goodness but about seeing reality through a spiritual lens—recognizing God’s presence, love, and harmony in our lives.
- Lord’s Prayer – “Our Father which art in heaven…” Jesus’ prayer affirms God as our loving, ever-present Father-Mother. Christian Science embraces the Lord’s Prayer as a powerful declaration of our unity with God and His continuous care, guiding us toward healing, peace, and spiritual progress.
- Golden Rule – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This simple yet profound teaching is a call to express divine Love in all we do. In Christian Science, living the Golden Rule means reflecting God’s love, seeing others as spiritual and whole, and practicing kindness and forgiveness in daily life.
- Sermon on the Mount – The Sermon on the Mount is a blueprint for spiritual living. Christian Science views it as a guide to understanding God’s kingdom as a present reality, where meekness, mercy, and trust in God lead to healing and lasting happiness.
Jesus’ lessons are not lost and forgotten
They are being practiced daily by dedicated Christian Scientists and others, and you can do it too!
We can all pray using the Bible and the lessons of Christ Jesus to become closer to God, to gain a better understanding of him, and to heal. This is the basis of Christian Science, and Christianity itself.
