As Los Angeles welcomed athletes and visitors from around the world during the World Cup Games, Christian Science Churches and Societies throughout Southern California responded in prayerful and practical ways—sharing messages of peace, extending warm hospitality, and offering spiritual resources. We look forward to expanding these efforts as we prepare to welcome the world again for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

There were pop-up Reading Rooms as fans walked towards FIFA games at the Los Angeles (SoFi) stadium. Our focus was on Peace for Our World—promoting universal love and inclusiveness. And we were in the Venice Fan Zone as well.

We received lots of thank-yous and smiles as we shared clear stadium tote bags containing our SoCal Churches’ “Peace for Our World” bookmarks and a tri-fold brochure highlighting how various faith traditions express the Golden Rule. While the wording may differ, the message remains the same: treating others with empathy, kindness, and respect, which will bring lasting peace.
