DESCRIPTION:Camp Bow-Isle invites you to go backpacking with other Christian Scientists in beautiful British Columbia. Our camp is an hour drive from the Vancouver airport and a 20-minute ferry ride to Bowen Island where we are located. We can help you with transportation! We created this program for young adults to unplug from busy schedules\, connect with the outdoors\, and be with like-minded thinkers. \n\n\n\nWatch this video to get a taste of the program! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis program is for those looking for an epic adventure in British Columbia. Christian Scientists in their 20s/30s and their friends are warmly invited to attend an extraordinary week unplugged  and connected with the outdoors. During this week of adventure\, you can expect a 3-day backpacking trip\, delicious food\, great company\, morning lesson study\, and beautiful views with opportunities to slow down and relax. No previous backpacking experience is needed to attend. And if you need backpacking gear\, we have some you can borrow! After our initial backpacking adventure\, you’re invited to stay for the YaHwEH weekend. We invite you to watch this page for additional updates.We look forward to welcoming you to Boston or online.\n\n\n\n“As you work\, the ages win; for the majesty of Christian Science teaches the majesty of man.”— Mary Baker Eddy“My Father worketh hitherto\, and I work.”— Christ JesusDear Church Members and Friends\,When Solomon finished building the Temple that was meant to be the house of God\, his prayer affirmed that the building itself could not contain God’s majesty. The true spiritual progress had to come through the hearts and acts of those who came together to worship God. He declared\, “Behold\, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!” God assures Solomon that his prayers have been heard\, and that the consecration involved in building the Temple and in coming together in the humble worship of God would bear fruit: “Now mine eyes shall be open\, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. For now have I chosen and sanctified this house\, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually” (Second Chronicles 6:18; 7:15\,16). Mary Baker Eddy referred to that moment in a letter to First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, Atlanta\, Georgia\, before reminding them of the importance of their own dedication\, when she wrote\, “As you work\, the ages win\,” which is the theme of the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church for 2025. She goes on to remind all of us: “You worship no distant deity\, nor talk of unknown love. The silent prayers of our churches\, resounding through the dim corridors of time\, go forth in waves of sound\, a diapason of heart-beats\, vibrating from one pulpit to another and from one heart to another\, till truth and love\, commingling in one righteous prayer\, shall encircle and cement the human race” (The First Church of Christ\, Scientist\, and Miscellany\, pp. 188\, 189).The provision for Annual Meeting in the Church Manual includes thought-provoking requirements. Mrs. Eddy tells us that the purpose of these meetings is to listen to Church reports and “general reports from the Field” (Manual\, p. 56\, emphasis added). Our Leader has charged us all—individual members and branch churches—with the task of sharing our spiritual progress with each other. Whether a report is grand or modest\, taken together\, they serve to illustrate the majesty of Christian Science. Some reports from the Field include the joy and energy of a newly admitted member who may have discovered Christian Science fairly recently\, or the assurance of a Sunday School student who found answers to challenging questions they’d been wrestling with. Other reports from the Field come from members’ healing experiences that may have come out of spiritual lessons that were deepened over the course of decades of study and application. Still others may be important spiritual lessons of progress learned by a branch church in working together and caring for each other. We look forward to being together at the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church\, in Boston\, Massachusetts\, USA\, to be held in person and online on Monday\, June 2\, 2025\, at 1:00 p.m. Boston time.
